Spouse of Sister – 10/08/20

…ok, so she lived in a desert, yes…she liked it, most of the time, and if she didn’t, she could get away, after a drive…but never in the dark now, too many curves, too many bright lights coming at you, why travel to the mountains or the lake so tense, so concentrating on driving, even if she was not behind the wheel…she smiled, when someone else drove at night, well, that was even more tense, as if she was really going to close her eyes and relax, ha!  No, she would relax at the cabin, when she removed her sandals – whoopers, her friend called them – and put her not so dainty feet into the water, usually always cold.  But no driving at night, that was the rule and she was sticking to it, yes…unless, of course, for the short run to the Favorite Flavors ice cream shop, an example of the perfect balance between safety and the essentials of a well-lived life, yes, there are times when even iron-clad rules must bend to reason, everyone knew that, and for those who didn’t, the very few sad ones, she would gently tell them, only once in all these years, smashing her ice cream in their face.
