Oldest Grandson – 07/07/14
…and now that he is twelve and no longer a child in his own eyes and in the eyes of some around him, sometimes he likes to think, sometimes he likes to see, and see and think, and sometimes just quietly see without thought, just to see and take-in, to watch everything that moves, the clouds and birds and leaves and branches of the trees in the wind – to “behold” that is the word – and to see the things that don’t move – the mountains, the trees, the farms and the houses and then – oh, wow! – the things that don’t move and yet do move, like the river that stays the same where it is, yet from the top of the hill he can see that it does also move, for the sunlight upon the water makes a ribbon of changing hues sprinkled with sparkles and he knew that he would never know this all unless he had climbed the hill by himself to behold. Love, Papa
