Oldest Sister – 06/30/14
… and as the older woman rocked the cradle – yes, her granddaughter, but also now by family law and natural law her assumed and assigned place and role in life – she pondered and thought upon this time and place in her life and quietly yet surely it began to build, the knowledge of and willing embracing of that thought and emotion so shunned and feared by those like her – those with now assumed and assigned lives – and that word – no, two words – came and she spoke them into the room assumed empty by others and the words were, “No” and “Rebellion” and she strangely was not surprised, but quickened unexpectedly by her deepening love for her granddaughter tethered to her heart by the rope of the cradle and she swore for both that they would not lose their form and color and shape and just blend into a background also imposed and made by other’s hands, but she would continue to rock, and love and live but only as herself making the “No” a shouted “Yes”.
