…and for her they were always evocative of life, of happiness, warmth, joy even, and of course with sunflowers, of the sun.  She loves seeing those at the entrance to the small market where she shopped, brilliant with a welcome going in, smiling a farewell on her leaving, two little moments of sunshine in her always busy day, for with their money, and all the blessed mouths to feed, there was nothing left, nothing to spare for sunflowers, and so a brief pause in her step, a gentle almost touch upon the petals, was all she had of the flowers while they were in season, the season and its memories and her smile, reflecting the warmth and life of the bouquets she beheld and momentarily hovered over like a bee in search of honey – all this was her warmth and sunlight and honey for the coming winter when the sunflowers were out of season…
