…ah, the cup of tea, ah, a time of communion with her own soul, even now with so many friends and some perhaps just pretend friends, but she would sit just a little off by herself and smile and observe and listen without talking, deep within a scene and time so familiar and repeated, that whatever was thought to be new or news or items of judicious or social interest, they did not seem these things to her, at least no longer. So, she came to these teas when she was invited, which is still often, at least often enough that occasionally she felt the expected thought that she needed a new dress, like the one today, a pink, a color only appropriate to her age, which she felt more and more each day it seemed, because this particular hue of pink was the fashion rage in Paris, miles and miles across the ocean, and she purchased the dress with a knowing smile, for she was kidding no one, especially herself, as she sat slightly apart enjoying the communion with her own thoughts, in her dress of a particular hue, the rage miles across the ocean in Paris…
